Other than volunteering there are other ways to support a cause. Ecoteer believes that donation's shouldn't just be 'given' to organisations but used to fund specific micro-projects. through Ecoteer anybody can donate to support specific micro-projects at Ecoteer registered projects. All donors no matter how large or small their contribution will receive an end of project report pertaining to the micro-project they supported.
Fundraising can seem daunting at first but we are here to help. The first thing to do is have a chat with us about what you want to raise funds for, current mini-projects and ideas. Then look through the Ecoteer Fundraising Pack which will provide you with some ideas and materials to get you started.
If you want some inspiration for ideas please visit here for past volunteer fundraising events.
It costs just GBP25 for 6 children to go on a river cruise to see wild orangutans and Pygmy Elephants. These school children live in Palm Oil Plantations next to conservation areas and the wild animals often venture into the palm oil estates. By taking the children on river cruises they get to see the animals in a positive wild state rather than as pests in the estates. Donations of any size are accepted please support this micro-project and we will give you a report from the river cruise you help fund!
In 2012 Ecoteer are going to be running Environmental clubs at primary schools in the Perhentian islands and in Ipoh, Malaysia. In the Perhentian Islands Ecoteer will also be running an English club and an Eco Snorkel club for the children. These school clubs provide the children with extra-curriculum activities and is helping to create a more aware younger generation. Malaysia is one of the top ten for biodiversity in the world and it is imperative that the younger generation are made aware of their actions and the consequences regarding the environment. Each club will be run on a weekly basis and needs RM10,000 (GBP2,000) to provide for materials, t-shirts, refreshments and prizes for the children. Ecoteer is looking to raise RM40,000 to help fund these weekly school clubs. All donors will receive a bi-annual report on the progress of the school clubs. We thank you for any kind donations
Ecoteer and FUZE Events are partnering up to start assessing the large mammal populations in the rainforests between Ipoh and Cameron Highlands. The forests are thought to be home to wild populations of Asian Elephants, Malayan Tiger, Leopards, Golden cats, Sun bears and all sorts. In order to find out what is living in these forests camera traps will need to be set in order to capture photos of any animals walking near the cameras. Each camera trap unit costs RM1500 (GBP300) and we want at least 20 units. All donors will receive a bi-annual report on the progress of the camera traps. If you sponsor 1 unit then you will be given all the original photos captured by your camera. We thank you for any kind donations
Help Sumana the elderly and sick elephant at the new Ecoteer Responsible Travel Project in Sri Lanka. Sumana arrived in September 2008 requiring treatment for numerous wounds and sores. Every day since she arrived Sumana has been treated twice daily and her condition has improved greatly. Sumana is a very gentle elephant who never complains no matter how often her wounds are cleaned. Sumana continues to fall over and reopen or make new cuts. We need to raise money to treat her properly, we will soon be moving Sumana into a new specially developed bed area which will help her to rest safely. Please donate now, donations of any size will make a difference to the care of Sumana.
If you would like to volunteer at the project please visit our Ecoteer Responsible Travel page Volunteer with Elephants in Sri Lanka.
