The Foundation for Education and Development (FED) project in Jinja, Uganda aims to provide education to needy and orphaned children. Currently 126 children's school fees are sponsored, but there is a waiting list of many more. As well as providing money to sponsor the children, FED monitors the sponsored children in their schools, organizes community training in income generating activities, provides adult literacy classes, and conducts workshops and seminars on topics like children's rights, reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS.

Role of Volunteer

1. Conduct surveys about the project's success.
2. Monitor children involved in the program.
3. Organize community training on income generation and English literacy.
4. Teach workshops and seminars on issues like human rights, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, life skills, music and drama, and peer education.

Cost

US $350 the first month, $150 for the second and $100 for each month thereafter. This cost includes a donation to the school, food, and accommodation.
