We organise volunteer interns for schools across the whole of China.  We have more than 30 schools all over China co-operating with our volunteer projects. Now our project manager is working hard to explore more schools to accept our volunteers. Each school can host 1 - 2 volunteers at one time.

Role of Volunteer

Teaching in Shanghai

After a one week Induction course in Shanghai (include, Induction, culture course, Mandarin lesson and sightseeing explore) you will serve 4 weeks to 12 weeks teaching english to 7 to 18 year olds. 

Your teaching will usually be spread over 11 lessons to 15 lessons per week(35 to 40 minutes per
lesson), Monday to Friday. There are no classes in the evenings or on Saturdays and Sundays, so you'll have plenty of time to explore and sightsee with the other volunteers.

Your lessons will be a combination of teaching from the standard text book and teaching lessons of your own design, which can include anything from your hobbies and interests to current affairs and local news as subject matter. Language games always go down extremely well too.

The vast majority of your teaching will concentrate on improving the students' conversational English; familiarising them with proper pronunciation and increasing their confidence. They’re often exemplary at English grammar but have had so little practice with spoken English that they make many mistakes. This is where you come in!  

Teaching near Cheng Du

For this area the Chinese Education Bureau said they would donate 1500RMB to poor schools and families, for each volunteer each month in school in the Si Chuan Province!!! That means, the greater number of volunteers we have working in the Si Chuan Province, the greater the donations!!!! Ecoteer China will allocate the donations to ensure only poor families and schools receive the money.

The fee includes 5 day orientation (includes 6hrs of Mandarin lessons over 3 days,a 1 hour culture course, sight seeing, hostel accommodation but not food - 1 meal between 10 to 30 RMB).  Once at your school you will be given accommodation at the school or a nearby apartment you will be sharing the room with another person.  You will be provided with 3 meals a day Monday - Friday but not at weekends.

We also offer Martial Arts course, long term Mandarin course and Other culture courses such as Chinese Painting, Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese Paper cut. However these courses only apply in Shanghai and are not included in the price.

Travel

Volunteers will need to travel into Shanghai to the project individually - Metro 3-7 RMB, the taxi is (b4 11pm) 11 RMB (73pence) for the first 3 km, after that is 2.1RMB (14 pence) per km, after 11pm, the price is arising up to 13 RMB (87pence) for the first 3 km, after that is 2.3 RMB per km.
