How to raise your funds

Fundraising can seem daunting at first but we are here to help. The first thing to do is have a chat with us about what you want to raise funds for, current mini-projects and ideas. Then look through the Ecoteer Fundraising Pack which will provide you with some ideas and materials to get you started.

Here are some fundraising events that other volunteers have done.

Mike Alborough - 2011

Amount I raised: Approx £240 (1170RM)

What you did: I ran a cake stall and half marathon

How you did it: It has always been an ambition of mine to run a half marathon. I have always loved running but I did not have the motivation to sign up for one. Wanting to give something back to Ecoteer was the motivation I needed. I ran 10 miles twice weekly to make sure I was up for it whilst asking friends and family for support. When the day came I was a bit nervous, but ran a good time and made a decent contribution to the charity. I also made the most delicious cakes ever to grace the world we live in. I made 80 they sold out in an hour at a stall I set up at my university campus.

Key to making it successful: I had the motivation of knowing this was such a great cause. I also made it challenging to myself, by attempting something I had never done before. More than just money, this raised a lot of awareness through Facebook groups and explaining what Ecoteer does to family and friends.
